Income Limits

HUD's income limits are the maximum income thresholds set by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for various programs, including affordable housing and rental assistance programs. These limits are based on the area's median income and household size and are used to determine eligibility for housing assistance programs like Section 8. HUD's income limits are updated annually and vary depending on the location and household size, with adjustments made to reflect changes in the area's income levels.


In the context of the Rental Rights Program, Income Limits are a pivotal factor in determining a qualified tenant. A qualified tenant may either meet low-income criteria and be 70 years old or older, disabled, or have a school-aged child attending a local school; or qualify as a very low-income household.
